The special pregnancy benefit may be granted:
A person who depends on an adult for his or her subsistence and is in one of the following situations:
Any pregnant woman who is a recipient under the Social Assistance Program or the Social Solidarity Program, or any parent who is a recipient under the Social Assistance Program or the Social Solidarity Program and has a dependent child who is pregnant (see definitions).
RestrictionA pregnant woman is not eligible for the special benefit during her hospitalization.
The pregnancy benefit is $55 per month. It is added to the basic monthly benefit received under the Social Assistance Program or Social Solidarity Program.
The pregnancy benefit is paid from the month in which the attestation of pregnancy is received and ceases when the mother gives birth. The special pregnancy benefit is not taxable in Québec.
