A journeyman competency certificate attests to the competence of the holder to perform a trade, a specialty or skills in the construction industry.
Clientele
Anyone aged 16 or over.
Conditions
To obtain a journeyman competency certificate, a person must
- hold an apprentice competency certificate;
- pass the qualification examination given by the Commission de la construction du Québec;
- pass the course "Santé et sécurité sur les chantiers de construction".
A candidate who acquired experience outside Québec or who worked in a sector similar to the construction sector (e.g. work as an electrician or a plumber in a shipyard) may be admitted to take the qualification examination without having completed the apprenticeship.
Note
To apply for a journeyman competency certificate for the trade of crane operator, the candidate must also pass the course "Utilisation sécuritaire des grues", recognized by the Commission de la construction du Québec, or the examination related to this course.
