Any woman who receives social assistance benefits or social solidarity benefits and who is breast-feeding an infant under one year old.
Restrictions A mother who already receives the special benefit for the purchase of infant formula cannot receive the nursing benefit, except for the month of transition from one feeding method to the other.
A mother who is hospitalized is not eligible for the special nursing benefit during the time she is hospitalized.
The benefit amount is $55 per month. It is added to the basic monthly benefit received under the Social Assistance Program or Social Solidarity Program.
