The grant for multiple births is paid to new parents of triplets or more to help them deal with the sudden, significant increase in their financial burden.
Clientele
All parents of triplets and more.
Requirements
The mother must be a resident of Québec. The establishment where the births took place ensures that the mother has resident status.
The grant paid is as follows:
- $6,000 for triplets
- $8,000 for quadruplets
A supplement of $2,000 is granted for each additional multiple-birth child.
The grant for multiple births is paid for children who are alive when they leave the establishment.
The cheque is issued in the mother’s name. In the event of the mother’s death or incapacity, the grant is paid to the father or the person who has custody of the children.
The amount received is not taxable. It may however be reduced if the beneficiary owes a debt to the Gouvernement du Québec.
