If replacement of a prosthesis is prescribed by an ophthalmologist because of a change in the orbital cavity, the person is entitled to reimbursement even if 5 years have not elapsed. However, a medical prescription certifying the change, dated and signed by an ophthalmologist, must be submitted.
An amount of $25 is granted per calendar year for repair and maintenance of an ocular prosthesis. The first $25 is not paid until 12 months after the prosthesis was purchased.
