Tax Credit for Childcare Expenses

Notifying Revenu Québec of a Change in Situation as a Recipient of Advance Payments of the Tax Credit for Childcare Expenses

You must notify Revenu Québec of a change in situation as follows:
  1. Fill out the form Notice of Change in Situation: Advance Payments of the Tax Credit for Childcare Expenses 2019.
  2. If the changes involve the location of care, the number of days of care during the year, or the childcare expenses, ask the individual who provides the childcare services, or that individual’s representative, to fill out the form Childcare Expenses Qualifying for the Tax Credit: Fees and Number of Days of Care for 2019.
  3. Send the form or forms to Revenu Québec within the prescribed time.
A change in situation may involve, for example,
  • a new child;
  • a new spouse, the breakdown of a relationship or the death of a spouse;
  • an eligible child leaving the home;
  • a move outside Québec;
  • lower or higher income than expected;
  • a return to school;
  • the loss of a job;
  • a new childcare service, or a change in childcare expenses or the number of days of care during the year.
To notify Revenu Québec that one or more children concerned by the application for advance payments have stopped or will stop attending a childcare service, you must
  • use the online service Change Advance Payment Information: Tax Credit for Childcare Expenses (you must be registered for My Québec Services Account); or
  • contact Revenu Québec.

Note
Recipients of advance payments of the tax credit for childcare expenses must notify Revenu Québec of any change in their personal or family situation during the tax year concerned.

Recipients may have to reimburse the amounts received as advance payments if their situation has changed during the year.
