Resources for Seniors Who Are Victims of Abuse

Reporting a Case of Elder Abuse

To report a case of elder abuse, whether suspected or confirmed, you can:
  • contact the local community service centre (CLSC) in the locality where the senior lives
  • contact the physician, nurse, social worker or another person at the CLSC who is working with the senior
  • call the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse
  • call the Senior-Aware help line
  • call Info-Social

If the abuse has occurred or is occurring in the health and social services network, you can file a complaint with the service quality and complaints commissioner at the establishment where the senior is receiving services. The commissioner will be able to assist you.

The users’ committee at the establishment or at the nearest complaint assistance and support centre (Centre d'assistance et d'accompagnement aux plaintes, or CAAP) can also help you. Assistance is free and confidential.
To find a CLSC, we suggest you use the Finding a Resource online service.
