You can file a claim in any of the following ways, depending on your situation: If your claim concerns a reimbursement of a partial payment, the completion of the work (see definitions), or a defect or poor workmanship (see definitions) discovered after the acceptance of the building (see definitions), submit your claim to the contractor and provide a copy to the Guarantee Plan manager. If the contractor has not responded or taken any action within 15 days following the date on which you filed your claim, take the following steps:
The manager will then process your claim. If your claim concerns the reimbursement of relocation, moving or storage expenses, send your reimbursement claim to the contractor and manager, along with the required supporting documents. If the contractor has not responded or taken any action within 15 days following the date on which you filed your claim, notify the Guarantee Plan manager. The manager will resolve the situation with the contractor. NoteWe suggest that you submit your claim to the contractor and Guarantee Plan manager by registered mail.
Fees of $100 are charged to open a file. These fees are reimbursed if your claim is accepted or an agreement is reached with the contractor.
Partial Payment, Completion of the Work and Problems after Acceptance of the BuildingYou must submit your claim within a reasonable time, namely within approximately 6 to 12 months. Reimbursement of ExpensesYou must submit your claim within 6 months of the acceptance of the building.
Processing TimeReimbursement of Expenses The manager has 30 days following receipt of the reimbursement claim to render a decision.
