Drawing Up an Inventory of the Property of an Incapacitated Person of Full Age

There are two ways to draw up an inventory of the property of an incapacitated person of full age (see definitions):
  • Fill out the form Inventory by Private Writing in the presence of 2 witnesses, have them sign it, and mail it along with the required documents to the Curateur public du Québec.
  • Or, use the services of a notary and mail a copy of the inventory drawn up in the form of a notarial deed along with the required documents to the Curateur public du Québec.
Note
A copy of the inventory, whether drawn up by private writing before witnesses or by notarial deed, must be sent to:
  • the secretary of the tutorship council along with the required documents, and
  • the tutor or curator to the protected person, whichever applies
We recommend that you send a copy of the inventory to the protected person and provide an explanation of its content.
