In order to renew an expired health insurance card, the person must
To find a Régie service point, use the Service points online service.
Persons whose health insurance card has expired may not renew their driver's licence at the same time.
A $9 fee is applied for the taking of the photo at a Régie office.
Persons whose health insurance card has been expired for more than 6 months must pay a $25 fee in order to renew it.
The Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec undertakes to issue the new health insurance card within 10 days following the receipt of a complete demand.
The health insurance card is generally valid for 8 years.
The list of required documents can be found on the form (if an original is provided, it must be accompanied by a legible copy of both sides of the document).
The person must also enclose 2 pieces of identification, one of which must be a photo ID, among the following:
Persons submitting their request at a service point of the Régie must also provide a photo meeting the Régie's photo specifications.
