Recourses before the Régie du logement

Preparing for a Hearing before the Régie du logement

To prepare for a hearing, the parties should:

  • carefully re-read the application to make sure they fully understand the intent and grounds of the recourse
  • gather all the documents they need to prove or refute the elements in dispute
  • identify witnesses they will need at the hearing, and if necessary, have them summoned by a bailiff
Witnesses
Only someone who has personal knowledge of the facts may testify. Depending on the nature of the application, a witness could be an appraiser, expert or inspector.

To ensure the presence of a witness, you can have a bailiff serve the witness (at least 3 days before the date of the hearing) with an order to appear, issued by a commissioner of the Régie du logement.
