Disability Benefits to the Québec Pension Plan
ClienteleAny person under age 65 who becomes disabled. RequirementsThe person must have a disability recognized as severe and permanent by Retraite Québec and must also have contributed to the Québec Pension Plan for one of the following periods:
NoteIf the person contributed to the Canada Pension Plan or the pension plan of a country with which Québec has signed an international social security agreement, those years of contribution can be taken into consideration in determining whether the person is eligible for a disability pension. RestrictionA person who receives an unreduced income replacement indemnity from the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail cannot be granted a disability pension.
A person applying for a disability pension must
The application form can be sent to Retraite Québec without the medical report so that the application can be processed more rapidly. The physician must send the report to Retraite Québec as soon as possible. Persons registered for the RRQ’s online My Account service (mandatory clicSÉQUR authentication) can use the service to evaluate the amount of disability pension they could be paid or consult their statement of participation.
Fees charged by a physician to draft a medical report must be paid by the person requesting the report.
A person who becomes disabled can apply for disability benefits up to age 65.
