Applying for the Special Benefit for Funeral Expenses

To apply for the special benefit for funeral expenses, individuals must go to a local employment centre (CLE) or to a Services Québec office that provides social solidarity services and present the decision notice concerning the death benefit of the Régime de rentes du Québec, issued by Retraite Québec.

If the deceased was not a beneficiary of the Social Assistance Program or the Social Solidarity Program, the agent will give the appropriate form to the person. The person must then: 

  1. fill out the form
  2. attach the required documents
  3. send the form and documents to the CLE or a Services Québec office

If the deceased person was a beneficiary of the Social Assistance Program or the Social Solidarity Program, the agent will take the appropriate steps.
