Disabled Parking Permit

Applying for a Disabled Parking Permit

Anyone who, because of a disability, is unable to get around independently or without endangering their health or safety over distances not requiring the use of transportation.

General Requirement
The disability must be present for at least 6 months.
Particular Requirements for Motorcycles and Mopeds
To obtain a disabled parking permit for a motorcycle or moped, you must also:
  • be the owner or lessee of a motorcycle or moped
  • be eligible for, or have, a portable disabled parking permit (i.e. to hang on the interior rear-view mirror of an automobile)

To apply for a disabled parking permit, proceed as follows:

  1. Complete the Disabled Parking Permit Application for your type of vehicle (some sections may have to be filled out by a healthcare professional).
  2. Attach any required documents, together with the applicable payment.
  3. Mail to the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ).

If  you always and permanently use a wheelchair to get around, attach proof that the purchase of the wheelchair was subsidized by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec.

At any time, the SAAQ may ask the holder of a disabled parking permit to complete a new assessment form, or to have additional assessments done, to ensure that he or she still meets the eligibility requirements.
