A person age 60 or over who has contributed for at least one year to the Québec Pension Plan
It is not necessary to have stopped working to be entitled to a retirement pension.
A person in one of the following situations is not entitled to a retirement pension before age 65:
- He or she is receiving an unreduced income replacement indemnity from the Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail.
- He or she is entitled to an indemnity from the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec and is recognized as having the same disability by Retraite Québec.
To apply for a retirement pension under the Québec Pension Plan, one may either:
- use the Application for a Retirement Pension under the Québec Pension Plan online service (ClicSÉQUR account authentication required), or
- fill out the Application for a Retirement Pension form and mail it to Retraite Québec.
The Application for a Retirement Pension under the Québec Pension Plan online service can also be accessed through My Account online service (ClicSÉQUR account authentication required), if registered.
To estimate the amount of a retirement pension, the applicant can use the My Account online service or view your Statement of Participation.
A person who is being paid a disability pension does not need to apply for a retirement pension, as it will automatically replace his or her disability pension at age 65.
