Tutorship to a Minor

Designating a Dative Tutor for One’s Child

Clientele
Any parent who is capable of exercising his or her civil rights and who, in anticipation of his or her death or incapacity (see Definitions), wishes to designate a dative tutor for his or her minor child

Requirements
The person designated as dative tutor must be of the age of majority and capable of exercising his or her civil rights.

To designate a dative tutor for your minor child, proceed in one of the following ways:

  • Write a clause to this effect in your will or protection mandate.
  • Complete the Declaration of Dative Tutorship form and mail it to the Curateur public du Québec.
