The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse may conduct an investigation on its own initiative or following the receipt of a complaint in cases of:
In all cases, the Commission strives to resolve the matter to the satisfaction of all parties. If it is impossible to reach a settlement or arbitration is refused, the Commission may propose measures of redress aimed at remedying the situation that gave rise to the complaint.
If these measures are not implemented within the allotted time, the Commission may apply to a tribunal, particularly the Tribunal des droits de la personne, to demand in favour of the victim any measure of redress it considers appropriate.
