A person who wishes to apply for a special benefit must first obtain the authorization of the agent in charge of his or her file at the ministère de l'Emploi et de la solidarité sociale or at his or her local employment centre. The applicant must then complete the form provided by the agent and mail it, with the required documents, to the Ministère or the local employment centre.
An application for the payment of a special benefit must be made
- not more than 30 days after the goods or services were provided;
- within 12 months, for the installation or repair of a heating system;
- within the month of October, for education expenses for children aged 16 or over on June 30 (Proof of school attendance must be provided.);
- as soon as possible, if the applicant shows that it was impossible to act within the deadline.
According to the type of special benefit, supporting documents must be submitted, such as
- a cost estimate for the good or service;
- proof of purchase for the good or service;
- proof of school attendance.
