When you give birth to or adopt a child, you can register for the Mon arbre à moi program in order to obtain a tree seedling that will grow along with your child. The seedlings are distributed in May and come with a growth chart and a souvenir card.
The Mon arbre à moi program provides every child born or adopted in Québec with a seedling tree that he or she can grow up with. Every tree is accompanied by a fact sheet and a growth chart.
The seedlings average 2 years old and are between 30 and 60 cm tall, depending on the species. They are all native Québec trees that can live over 100 years. The trees will reach heights of 20 to 25 metres, with some reaching their full height in as little as 30 years.
The seedlings are distributed each year in May to celebrate Tree and Forest Month. Shortly before the distribution, parents who have signed up for the program receive a letter or email from the Ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs indicating the distribution date and location for their region.
