Becoming a Parent

Filiation

Filiation is the relationship that exists between a child and his or her parents, whether the parents are of the same or the opposite sex. This relationship can be established by blood, assisted procreation or through adoption. Once filiation has been established, it creates rights and obligations between the parents and the child, regardless of the circumstances of the child’s birth.
